Iranian culture minister: Yalda Night, a reminder of human and social values
Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Seyed Abbas Salehi, has shared a heartfelt message on the occasion of Yalda Night published in Iran newspaper.
The minister described Yalda, the longest night of the year marking the winter solstice, as “a mysterious and delightful night that stands as a symbol of Iran’s rich and ancient culture, holding a special place in history.”
Salehi reflected on the past, recalling how “families used to gather on this night to share warmth, kindness, and love,” adding, “For many of the older generation, Yalda is not just a calendar event but a manifestation of human values and cultural heritage deeply rooted in Iranian history.”
He emphasized Yalda can clear away old grievances and strengthen bonds within the family, the most significant human gathering.
“The tradition of visiting elders on this night and showing humility fosters a deep connection between generations and highlights that Iranian culture is built on love and empathy,” the minister boasted.
Concluding his message on a promising note, he stated, “In today’s world, where social media and virtual communication have reduced face-to-face interactions, Yalda Night serves as an opportunity to recall societal values.”
